The Story Behind Maatrika Haat
From a Small Village to Your Home
Maatrika Haat was born in 2019 from a simple observation: rural Indian women possess incredible culinary skills passed down through generations, yet lack access to markets that value their craft.
We started with just 12 women from a single village in Maharashtra. Today, we're proud to work with 350+ women artisans across 50+ villages, creating a sustainable livelihood model that preserves traditions while providing fair wages.
The name "Maatrika" means "mother" in Sanskrit — honoring the maternal love and care that goes into every product our Didi's create. "Haat" refers to traditional Indian marketplaces where communities gathered.
